Crosses

I don't know

if the crosses

in the hospital help,

but they're there.

Same with police cars

driving in circles and squares

trying to catch the worst

of the criminals,

but do they?

I don't know

what the prostitutes

are really selling besides

temporary answers,

but I am quite sure

of what this glass of beer

and several whiskeys will do

followed by others.

Experience will teach

even the slow and unfortunate

and others in between

holding a filled glass

yet wondering why

everything must end 

or never begins.
