Tu me manques, comme on dit –

you are missing from me.
Your absence hollows me out,
I whisper when I long to shout,
as I swerve through busy days
of work and pointless play.
Who knew an empty space
leaves greater marks upon a place
than heavy objects and the cast
of current actors amassed
across my ill-lit stage.
I tip from grief to rage
in split seconds. Then spilt, plead
to be taken in your stead.

Tu me manques, comme on dit –
you are missing from me.

Notes:
‘Tu me manques’ – French – trans. ‘I miss you [literally: ‘you are missing from me’],
‘comme on dit’ – French – trans, ‘as they say’
