Working Away

The first night in the hotel she sat up in bed,

Thinking about the boys at home, worrying,

Though they were fast asleep by now.

She was alright but she wished she could check on them.

After a while, in spite of herself

Her eyes grew heavy.

Fighting sleep, the air around her shimmered (warping space)

And flashed, bright white (warping matter)

And she was at home, lying between her boys,

In the big bed with their father.

She looked at them, asleep and okay. She touched their hair.

They stirred but did not wake.

Then again the shimmer, then again the white light,

And again the hotel.

Her powers tested,

She let herself sleep.
